Matcha Boba is the perfect blend of fresh, vibrant matcha and the fun, chewy indulgence of tapioca pearls. With its creamy texture and balanced flavour, it’s ideal for a refreshing break—or a relaxing moment just for you.
Ingredients (for 1 glass):
- 1 tsp matcha powder Organic Ceremonial Matcha
- 150 ml milk (plant-based or dairy)
- 50 ml hot water (70–75°C)
- 2 tbsp cooked tapioca pearls
- 1 to 2 tbsp cane sugar syrup (or sweetener of your choice)
- Ice cubes (optional, for an iced version)
Method:
Step 1: Prepare the matcha
- Whisk the matcha: In a small bowl, add 1 tsp matcha and 50 ml hot water. Whisk vigorously with a chasen (bamboo whisk) or a small whisk until smooth and lightly frothy.
Step 2: Cook the tapioca pearls
- Cook the pearls: If they aren’t already cooked, follow the package instructions. Drain and let them cool slightly.
Step 3: Assemble your Matcha Boba
- Add the pearls: Place 2 tbsp tapioca pearls at the bottom of a large glass.
- Add the syrup: Pour 1 to 2 tbsp cane sugar syrup (or your preferred sweetener) over the pearls.
- Add the milk: Pour in 150 ml milk, cold or warm depending on your preference.
- Add the matcha: Gently pour the whisked matcha over the top for a layered effect.
- Add ice (optional): For an iced version, add a few ice cubes.
Step 4: Enjoy
- Sip & savour: Add a wide boba straw and enjoy. Adjust syrup to taste to make it perfectly yours.
Tip:
For extra indulgence, top with a little whipped cream, or dust the surface with a pinch of matcha for a beautiful finish.
